Accessible Mode
The accessible mode is only available if it is enabled by the license
The accessible mode can be activated from the top-toolbar. If this mode is enabled, the document gets displayed with a very reduced layout that is optimized for screen-reader-usage. The intention is to make document content as accessible as the rest of the application. The quality of the result depends on the original data.
Structured documents
Structured documents like PDF/UA or XRechnung already contain semantic information. That makes it easy to create semantic HTML that correctly displays heading as such and so on.
Unstructured documents
Unfortunately most documents are not created with structure and semantics in mind. Even worse in that concern are scanned PDFs. In these situations the jadice web viewers uses the jadice flow based "document enhancer" in the background that does several steps to create a semantic HTML. Steps in that workflow are for example:
- perform OCR if no text-layer is present
- interpret structures e.g. for headings and text blocks
